Located in between two major science buildings on the Texas State campus, the Mitte Science Garden solves a major drainage problem that existed beforehand. The office of J. Robert Anderson worked directly with the university facilities staff in developing a program for the science garden that Involved science curriculum for geology, ecology and botany instruction.
The office of J. Robert Anderson created outdoor spaces surrounded by 5 Texas biomes and including over 100 species of native Texas plants. In addition, a "Geology Wall" made up of 55 rocks and minerals with numbered labels for class identification was introduced along with shade trees to soften the harsh conditions of the site and to create outdoor relaxation spaces within the garden.
